Elizabeth Gallardo is an artist, designer, theorist, and urban planner living and working in Los Angeles. Gallardo’s work focuses on the synergy and interconnectedness of communities and environments as an analog to natural forms, processes, and models. She plans and designs in an urban context focusing equally on both the micro and macro scale.

Gallardo’s planning interests are motivated by an ethical dedication to quality of life and sustainability. She specializes in revitalization, building livable street communities and creative place-making. Gallardo’s work is guided by the sentiment that planners create mechanisms in society that enable and encourage values and practices, creating a ripple effect. By utilizing art and creative thinking in our everyday environment, we not only affect the immediate result of innovative creative output, but act as an example for others to follow.

Gallardo’s planning practice aims to fulfill the desire to have a unique, special, and poetic experience in the world, while adhering to regenerative economic, social and environmental practices. She believes the planner’s role is to help communities articulate their unique vision and inform on best practices.

Gallardo comes from a liberal arts background, focusing on cinema, studio art, and politics in her undergraduate studies. She currently studies Urban Planning and Landscape Architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
